Firefly made its debut at Adobe Summit in March, where it was promoted for usage in businesses and enterprises while learning from Adobe's own Stock pictures catalogue to select marketing materials. 

Firefly is one of the safest generating tools for commercial usage, according to Adobe, because it draws from a private database of picture sources as well as public domains and assets with no restrictions on use.

And with the capacity to create images from text, Photoshop users should have a lot more creative freedom and do a bit less effort. Generative Fill, a co-pilot service that makes it simple to add, delete, or change visuals using text descriptions, is the standout aspect of Adobe's announcement.

In one demonstration, Adobe shows how to choose the top of a mountain range, tell Generative Fill to replace it with the northern lights, and then get three possibilities to insert with different colours and styles that all seem to match.

According to the firm, Firefly is Adobe's most successful beta launch to date, with users creating over 100 million assets throughout the trial's six-week duration. Adobe also thinks Generative Fill is the most specifically designed art generator tool yet, with high-quality output, web usability, certification for commercial usage, and the ability to edit between layers of algorithmic elements.

Every asset produced by Generative Fill is marked with Content Credentials, an underlying marker that identifies who the original owner is, in order to adhere to the AI Ethics guidelines that an increasing number of businesses are required to follow.

Starting today, the desktop beta version of the new Adobe Photoshop feature will be accessible. The actual release of the function will happen in the second half of 2023.
